OUTLAWS SUFFER 2ND LOSS OF 5 GAME ROAD TRIP
Thursday night the Mission City Outlaws were in action for the 2nd game of this 5 game road trip as they made the trip to Surrey to take on the Surrey Knights for the first meeting of the season.
Outlaws had what can only be described as one of their worst 1st periods this season and the Knights capitalized 3 times in the opening frame. Defensive breakdowns and plenty of puck battles won by the opposition was the difference maker in the first 20 minutes as the Knights led 3-0.
Much of the same in the first half of the middle stanza and Surrey tacked on 2 more to lead 5-0. This would chase starting goalie Justin Goetz and in came Jake Poblette to maybe drive a spark for the Outlaws and it seemed to pay off as MIssion City would get on the board as Colton Collard extended his goal scoring streak to 11 games and the Outlaws would trail 5-1 after 2.
Outlaws came out strong in the 3rd and Collard would notch his 2nd of the game to make it 5-2 but the Knights would counter back striking twice to take back the 5 goal lead. Rehaun Lidder would find the net late in the game but it was too little too late as Surrey improves to 7 straight wins at home defeating the Outlaws 7-3.
The Outlaws will look to bounce back on Saturday night when they travel to North Van to take on the Wolf Pack. Puck drops at 7pm.
