New Head Coach Derek Doucette

After a thorough recruitment and selection process, the Mission City Outlaws are excited to
announce Derek Doucette as the team’s new Head Coach. Derek comes to the Outlaws with
over 15 years of coaching experience at many different levels in hockey. Most recently, he was
an Assistant Coach for the past two seasons with the Grandview Steelers of the PJHL and
before his time with the Steelers, he was a Coach with the Vancouver North East Chiefs of the
BCEHL.
“Derek is a relational coach and mentor. He brings a passionate coaching style with an
emotional involvement and energy that will create a strong team atmosphere and culture.
Furthermore, he has an innate ability to see and facilitate synergies between players to motivate
and make them better. He brings coaching experience in the PJHL, along with relationships
with many players across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. From year to year, we are
always striving to improve and upgrade our organization and this year by hiring Derek Doucette
as our Head Coach we strongly feel that we have done just that. Please join me in welcoming
Derek to the Outlaws.” – Scott Farrell, GM
Derek will begin the head coaching duties effective immediately as the Outlaws host a Spring ID
Camp from May 3-5th. Further announcements about additions to our coaching staff and a new
player development coach will come shortly.
